SU last cancelled a full day of classes in 2018.

Syracuse University will remain open Tuesday despite a winter storm warning and eight to 14 inches of snow, the university announced in a campus-wide email.

SU reviewed the “most up-to-date” National Weather Service data and consulted with an independent meteorologist, according to the email, sent just after 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The university will continue to evaluate the weather and announce any changes to its operating status through a campus-wide email, on social media, online and through local media outlets.

“If community members experience weather conditions that could affect their safety when traveling to and from the University, they are encouraged to use their judgement as it relates to travel,” SU said in the email.

SU last canceled a full-day of classes for weather in 2018, after 12 to 18 inches of heavy, wet snow. It canceled evening classes on Jan. 30, after wind chills dipped to -20 to -30 degrees.
